About the Artist

Nature is at the heart of everything I make. I am drawn to glaciers, coastlines, forests, beaches, and atolls—places that carry a certain stillness and quiet that the world doesn't offer enough of anymore. I am inspired by locations that make you feel small in the most beautiful way, where you slow down without even trying.

Each painting is rooted in a real place and a real story. From the glaciers of Iceland to the coastlines of Malibu to untouched atolls in the Indian Ocean, the landscape becomes a vessel for emotion, memory, and presence.

We live in a world that moves so fast and rarely asks us to stop. My work is a quiet invitation to do exactly that: to slow down, to breathe, to feel present. I build ridges, textures, and layers that you don't just see, but feel. I want people to get lost in it. I want you to look at a painting and find yourself standing on that beach, walking that muddy path, or sitting at the edge of that glacier. I want the texture under your fingertips to do something, to slow you down, even just for a moment.

There are moments when I touch one of my own paintings and every bit of stress just dissolves. That's the experience I want for every person who engages with this work—that feeling of nature brought home, always within reach.

Biography

Monisha Vemulapalli’s artistic journey began at just four years old. With no formal training, she learned by watching artists in her neighborhood, eventually working across watercolors, oil landscapes, charcoal portraits, and heavy-textured abstracts.

The most profound shift in her practice occurred after she moved to Canada. Finding deep peace in nature, Monisha realized that her 2D paintings were no longer connecting with her the way she wanted. Because touch has always been integral to how she experiences the world, she began exploring 3D sculpting on canvas. By building ridges and layers entirely by hand using mixed media and sculptural materials, it became clear to her that art should be accessible in that same way—not just looked at from a distance, but truly experienced.

Today, Monisha has exhibited in solo shows at renowned galleries in India, as well as group exhibitions and major art fairs across North America. She continues to create tactile, immersive original artworks that bring some of the world's most quietly powerful places into our shared, everyday spaces.
